While all eyes were on Marquez's move on Lorenzo on the last lap, Rossi did the same to Iannone but the Ducati immediately struck back.

That's the first time Marquez has even scored at Phillip Island in MotoGP - two years ago he was thrown out for pitting at the wrong time in that bizarre race skewed by tyre wear, last year he crashed while leading.

Marquez has jumped into a big pile of Honda personnel in pard ferme and is being chucked around in celebration. Rossi is already back in the Yamaha garage, looking drained. Pretty muted from Lorenzo too.

Second for Lorenzo and fourth for Rossi is a seven-point gain for the Spaniard. The championship gap is back down to 11 points with two races to go.

Marquez beats Lorenzo to victory! Rossi has to settle for fourth behind Iannone.

Rossi slips inside Iannone for third at the hairpin and then fends the Ducati off on the exit.

Marquez lines up Iannone for second under braking, thinks better of it, but then the Ducati runs a bit wide so he does it anyway. Iannone immediately retaliates and is back into second.

Rossi isn't third for long, as they hit the straight Iannone powers back through. Rossi immediately retaliates at the next corner, back into third.

It all closes back up on the pits straight as they pick up each other's slipstreams. Five laps left from 0.6s covers Lorenzo, Iannone, Marquez and Rossi.

While all that's going on, Lorenzo has sneaked into a 0.4s lead.

Iannone surges past Lorenzo into second on the straight, though the Yamaha is back through at the next corner. They're still within 0.3s of leader Marquez, with Rossi now right behind.

The lead battle is closing back up, Lorenzo isn't really falling away from Marquez, and Iannone and Rossi - particularly Iannone - are inching towards them.

Alex de Angelis's substitute Damian Cudlin has made what seems like 100 pit visits, and now retires the Ioda Aprilia.

Rossi is still behind Iannone in fourth and not actually giving the Ducati much hassle right now. As it stands, with Lorenzo and Rossi second and fourth, the points gap is coming down to 11.

While Iannone is third on one works Ducati, the other has just been pushed down to 12th, Andrea Dovizioso losing out to Scott Redding.
A smaller but still significant gap between the Suzukis too - Vinales is seventh but pushing Pedrosa and Crutchlow for fifth, Aleix Espargaro is ninth behind brother Pol, 6s off his rookie team-mate.

Marquez is all over the back of Lorenzo for the race lead.

Iannone grabs third back from Rossi on the straight, and Marquez is now only 0.1s behind Lorenzo for the lead.

Behind them, Pedrosa is back into fifth but still under heavy pressure from Crutchlow and Vinales.

Rossi has fallen 1.1s behind Marquez, he has't got the pace to get involved in what's suddenly become a lead fight, and can't shake off Iannone either.
