Misano MotoGP, Kubica's home rally, Oschersleben DTM

Live Text

Sort by
MotoGP - Misano: More work for Lorenzo now, who is sat in his pit garage and shaking his head. The good news is that he is at least second, albeit a quarter of a second down on Marquez.
ELMS - Hungaroring: Oliver Turvey - currently fifth fastest for Jota Sport - has crashed at Turn 1. The car doesn't look too heavily damaged as the marshals push it away from the tyre wall. Brendon Hartley leads the way for Murphy Prototypes at the moment, with 11 minutes still to go.

DTM - Oschersleben: AUTOSPORT's breakfast was made a tad more fever by the bloke who joined us for a chat.

He claims, incidentally, that he does not wear this ring all the time, but brings it out on special occasions as a conversation-starter.

It started a conversation. Any guesses who it was?
WRC - Australia: Sebastien Ogier takes the stage win on the first of tonight's two runs through Coffs.

He's got the title and rally win in his pocket, but can still be bothered to go flat-out on a one-kilometre street stage.
MotoGP - Misano: Marquez becomes the first man to dip into the 1m33s this weekend - he's gone top, and improved upon his FP2 best, with a 1m33.975s. Lorenzo and Pedrosa are both three tenths of a second down the road.
WRC - Australia: The closest battle remaining is for fifth place, with Andreas Mikkelsen coming into the superspecial just one second ahead of Mads Ostberg, but the VW man is quicker around Coffs so that gap will creep upwards.
MotoGP - Misano: 20 minutes into the session, and Pedrosa is still fastest. Lorenzo is back out after a long delay and instantly jumps to second, ahead of Marquez - who comes incredibly close to hitting Pesek out on track - Rossi and Hayden.
WRC - Australia: Citroen doesn't yet know how bad Meeke's car is, but he's still appearing in the results as if he will rejoin under Rally 2 tomorrow, and with only nine other top-class cars, a point is not completely out of the question. But it could've been a podium...
ERC - Poland: The frontrunners have now finished the Baranowo stage, so unless one of the Production Cup or 2WD goes blisteringly quick, here's the stage and overall classifications:

Stage: 1 Bouffier; 2 Kajetaniowicz +0.7s; 3 Kubica +3.5s; 4 Solowow +11.0s; 5 Holowczyc +12.2s.

Overall: 1 Bouffier; 2 Kajetanowicz +5.8s; 3 Kubica +14.4s; 4 Kopecky +18.5s; 5 Solowow +18.9s.
ELMS - Hungaroring: Time for the LMP cars to take to the soaking wet Hungarian asphalt. And we've already got the Algarve Pro Racing Team car in the gravel.
DTM - Oschersleben: While Audi rejoices, Mercedes looks on as Gary Paffett takes a trip across the gravel at Turn 7.

BMW, meanwhile, has concerns as Bruno Spengler's car sits in the pits, the Schnitzer mechanics working hurriedly to fix something. It looks a bit more than a routine set-up tweak.
DTM - Oschersleben: A new name at the top of the timesheets as Adrien Tambay takes his Abt Audi to P1, half a tenth ahead of Albuquerque.
ERC - Poland: Triple Polish champion Kajetanowicz is the next to complete the stage and posts the second quickest time which is 0.7s slower than Bouffier.
WRC - Australia: But the massive news of leg two concerns Kris Meeke.

It was all going so well for the first part of his latest big Citroen audition, as he set the qualifying pace, chased Sebastien Ogier in the early stages and had the edge on team-mate Mikko Hirvonen.

Even when his pace drifted off slightly, all was still fine.

But crashing out of fourth place in a big roll on the first stage out of service this afternoon has put Meeke firmly in team boss Yves Matton's bad books...
Andre Negrao

FR3.5 - Hungaroring: To show you just how wet it is in Hungary, take a look at this shot of poleman Andre Negrao from qualifying this morning.

MotoGP - Misano: Dani Pedrosa is under Marquez's time until hitting traffic in the final sector. Lorenzo meanwhile is sat in the garage, with plenty of work going on around his bike.
WRC - Australia: The drivers are taking to the streets of Coffs Harbour to round off Saturday's action with another couple of runs through the superspecial.

Sebastien Ogier has continued to pull away imperiously up front, chased in vain by Mikko Hirvonen and Thierry Neuville.
DTM - Oschersleben: Practice reaches its halfway stage with the order: 1 Albuquerque; 2 Rockenfeller; 3 Tambay; 4 Mortara; 5 Glock; 6 Green.

To quickly recap, there have been offs at Turn 1 for both Roberto Merhi and Marco Wittmann and there was a brief red-flag period to allow a small bit of debris, dropped at the exit of Turn 2, to be retrieved.
ERC - Poland: Craig Breen is another driver somewhat dismayed at the slippery conditions.

"It's very difficult," says the Irishman after posting the fifth quickest time of the stage. "I am just trying to find a good rhythm. Not really bad, but it's really soft, like a field!"

His time is 14.5s off the pace and he is current fifth overall, 27.6s adrift of Bouffier.
ELMS - Hungaroring: GT qualifying is over and the #62 Ferrari of Andrea Rizzoli, Stefano Gai and Lorenzo Case - a GTC car - is on pole. The #66 JMW Ferrari of Andrea Bertolini and Joel Camathias is the top GTE runner and is second quickest.
ELMS - Hungaroring: Proving how wet it is here in Hungary, the GT cars of the ELMS are having almost as much trouble as the FR3.5 single seaters did before them. The #62 AF Corse Ferrari currently leads the way in qualifying.
Marc Marquez MotoGP 2013

Marc Marquez MotoGP 2013

MotoGP - Misano: Green flag, and third practice is underway in Italy. Can Marc Marquez make it three in a row?
ERC - Poland: Home hero Robert Kubica is currently the second quickest through the stage and sets a time 3.5s slower than Bouffier.

"We pick up a bit more rhythm," says the Pole. "Very difficult rally, we have no grip, our car prefers dry conditions. Very slippery."
FR3.5 - Hungaroring: The Formula Renault 3.5 drivers are currently drying themselves off after a qualifying session of madness this morning. After four stoppages for cars in the gravel, the officials decided not to restart the session for the final four minutes.

The result was a Draco front row lockout for Andre Negrao and Nico Muller, with title rivals Kevin Magnussen and Stoffel Vandoorne P16 and P11 respectively.
ERC - Poland: Current rally leader Bouffier is third through and sets a time 13s quicker than Kopecky. Someone's clearly had their Weetabix this morning (other whole grain wheat cereals are available).
ERC - Poland: Kosciuszko isn't a happy bunny. He lost power steering and had to restart his car, losing 17.8s to Kopecky in the process.
ERC - Poland: First to complete the Baranowo stage is championship leader Kopecky, who reckons he lost a couple of seconds when he slid out in the middle of the test.

"We just drive and let the car go, some times we are like a spectator in the car!"

He posted a time of 6m43.0s.
ERC - Poland: The first competitive stage has already been run today on the shortened stage of Talty, which was cut from 14.5 to 6.15 kilometres after midweek rain left sections beyond immediate repair.

ERC regular Bryan Bouffier posted the quickest time ahead of Kajetan Kajetanowicz and rising Polish star Michal Kosciuszko, whose back has been declared strong enough after sustaining an injury in Germany last month.

SS1 times: 1 Bouffier; 2 Kajetanowicz +5.1s; 3 Kosciuszko +5.4s; 4 Kopecky +6.2s; 5 Solowow +7.9s.

Baranowo, which forms stages two and five of this all-gravel rally, is also trimmed from 17.5 to 12.1 kilometres and gets underway in little under 10 minutes.
ERC - Poland: We're kicking off straight away with Rally Poland, which is a pivotal event in this year's European Rally Championship as the battle between the two contenders Jan Kopecky and Craig Breen takes shape.

Kopecky could clinch the title this weekend, but that depends on a host of eventualities.
Good morning and welcome back to AUTOSPORT Race Centre Live on Saturday morning September 14.
DTM - Oschersleben: German F3 qualifying is over with Lotus driver Marvin Kirchhofer taking pole and inching ever closer towards the title.

The three bonus points he receives for his achievement moves him 97 points clear in the title race with only now 135 remaining from the final six races.

American Gustavo Menezes was an impressive second-fastest for Van Amersfoort Racing while Brit Emil Bernstorff (Lotus) was fifth.

DTM - Oschersleben: The DTM cars have had their roll-out and among them is champion Bruno Spengler, who is using a special one-off livery this weekend.

His Schnitzer BMW features the names of thousands of his fans after they registered via BMW's 'Drive like Bruno' scheme.
DTM - Oschersleben: A good result in practice for the Volkswagen Scirocco Cup too as Brit (and newly-instated BRDC Rising Star) Ross Wylie wound up second quickest behind title favourite Kelvin van der Linde.

Kurt Thiim was the best of the 'legends' in 11th. Klaus Niedzwiedz was 15th with Jan Lammers and Arie Luyendyk 19th and 22nd.
DTM - Oschersleben: Practice for the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany is done and dusted with Brit Sean Edwards - son of ex-F1 racer Guy - quickest by two tenths from Philipp Eng.

Championship leader Kevin Estre was fourth, two spots ahead of Attempto Racing team-mate (and main title rival) Nicki Thiim.
DTM - Oschersleben: The answer to the 'Abt Fan-Paket' question is far more straightforward than we reckoned.

It's simply a VIP package offered by top Audi squad Abt Sportsline. We had a similar experience when informed that 'Mannschaft' means 'team' in German.

DTM - Oschersleben: AUTOSPORT has no idea what an Abt Fan-Paket is (spotted in the paddock). Don't Americans have a similar name for a Bum Bag?

And as for a Kann Man Tunen, that's anybody's guess.

Fortunately, Audi Sport has promised to find out what one is and let us know later.
DTM - Oschersleben: In fact, only Lotus drivers can now win the title.

Kirchofer is 94 points ahead of Artem Markelov with Bernstorff a further 30 behind.

There are only 138 points available from the remainder of the season, with the likelyhood being that Kirchofer will secure the points he needs to become champion in tomorrow's second race.
DTM - Oschersleben: German F3 practice took place a little while ago. Britain's Emil Bernstorff - a McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award finalist in 2011 - was second fastest behind Marvin Kirchofer.

Both drive for the Motopark-run Lotus squad with Kirchofer on the verge of clinching the title this weekend.
Moto2 rider Dani Rivas has been suspended for two races for causing a warm-up crash at Silverstone.
