And that's it from AUTOSPORT Race Centre Live after this wild and spectacular night of American motorsport.

Our next live coverage will be one week from now as MotoGP only has a seven-day gap before the Czech Grand Prix at Brno.

We'll be keeping you abreast of all the action from the grand prix race day in the Czech Republic from 9.45am UK time next Sunday, alongside action from the DTM and European Formula 3 at the Nurburgring, and a boosted British F3 field at Thruxton, and then another American motorsport evening with NASCAR from Michigan and IndyCar on the Milwaukee Mile.

But I half-stalled it leaving my pitbox, and I think that was the difference between being the victor and second place. Pretty disappointed. NASCAR - Watkins Glen: When they crossed the line, just before the yellow, Ambrose was still in the lead by 0.003s, but Allmendinger passed him moments later, then the caution period started.

NASCAR - Watkins Glen: When this race restarts, the race order is Allmendinger, Ambrose, Edwards, Busch, Harvick (bean bag-gate seems a long time ago!) and Larson.
NASCAR - Watkins Glen: Replays also showed that Allmendinger ran through the grass at the Bus Stop chicane, which usually means a radiator grille-full of grass. But he seemed to escape!
NASCAR - Watkins Glen: Replays show that Allmendinger made some contact with Ambrose as he took the lead. There is a Chase position up for grabs, so it's understandable they're pulling out all the stops.

NASCAR - Watkins Glen: Kennedy had a very weird crash with Reed Sorenson on the exit of Turn 1, just as the yellows were flying.

NASCAR - Watkins Glen: Hamlin hits the end of the pitwall, that will take some clearing up. Alex Kennedy has also crashed.

Allmendinger had just grabbed the lead.
NASCAR - Watkins Glen: Four laps to go, Allmendinger attacks and repasses into Turn 1!

USC - Road America: And Barbosa takes the chequered flag, to give the #5 Action Express crew an extended championship lead. They are the only team to have completed every race lap this year!
NASCAR - Watkins Glen: Ambrose gets a run on Allmendinger through Turn 1 and they touch at the Esses!

NASCAR - Watkins Glen: Let's try again: Allmendinger leads Ambrose having been warned by NASCAR to make a "fair restart".
USC - Road America: A moment ago Muller was hounding Kaffer for the lead, but now he has Bomarito all over his rear bumper! Great defensive driving by the BMW driver.
USC - Road America: For the first time since the restart, Negri has dropped back from overall leader Barbosa. The gap between the duo is 2.705s with just three minutes remaining.

USC - Road America: Muller is gaining on Kaffer in the fight for the win in GTLM! There's battles everywhere in the final moments of this crash-strewn race.

NASCAR - Watkins Glen: And we're under caution once more. Allmendinger made a canny restart, which meant Ambrose almost got caught up with Busch at Turn 1. They will restart in the same order as before.
USC - Road America: Renger van der Zande currently leads PC in the #8 Starworks ORECA, with Rayhall second and the #85 JDC entry in third, being driven at the moment by South African Stephen Simpson.

NASCAR - Watkins Glen: Johnson spins at Turn 1 and is collected by Regan Smith.

NASCAR - Watkins Glen: Here we go for the shoot-out to the finish: Allmendinger versus Ambrose.

USC - Road America: Back to racing with less than 10 minutes to go. Barbosa leads yet again, ahead of Dalziel and Negri.
NASCAR - Watkins Glen: With nine laps to go, Allmendinger will lead Ambrose to the green flag, with Busch third and Edwards fourth.

Ambrose reckons AJ's tyres are going off. Wishful thinking? Expect a big effort at this restart from Marcos.

USC - Road America: Who would like a sixth caution period? Nobody. But that's what we have got as Christopher Haase in the #48 Paul Miller Audi R8 is in the gravel at Turn 2.

Fuel loads shouldn't be a worry for anyone now, what with just over 10 minutes remaining.
NASCAR - Watkins Glen: First car into the pits is McMurray from ninth, so he's going for the fresh-tyre gamble.
USC - Road America: Closest battle at the moment? That'll be for second place in GTLM as the #912 Porsche of Michael Christensen is up Dirk Muller's exhaust pipe! Kaffer continues to lead the class, where the Ferrari has been all race long.

NASCAR - Watkins Glen: Josh Wise brings out a caution that will be a blessed relief for some.

USC - Road America: Less than 20 minutes to go and Barbosa maintains his lead in the #5 Action Express Corvette DP. Ozz Negri sees an opportunity and takes it, moving ahead of Dalziel to second into Turn 3!
NASCAR - Watkins Glen: A slow lap from Allmendinger there, the first sign that he's saving fuel? Gap is down to 2s.
NASCAR - Watkins Glen: During the break Allmendinger said he'd been chasing his car's handling all day. Well, it looks like he's found the sweetspot now, holding the gap at 2.3s. Both camps have fuel mileage concerns, however, and it looks like Kurt Busch will play the stalking horse, as he's slipped back some way in third.
USC - America: Jordan Taylor reported back to his crew before he crashed that his steering went kaput. Bit of a disaster really, given the Taylor brothers were just two points behind championship leaders Fittipaldi and Barbosa heading into this race.
NASCAR - Watkins Glen: This is going to be a great duel to the chequered flag between arguably the two best road racers in NASCAR, certainly now that Montoya has left the scene.

Good lap from AJ there, he's opened out the gap to 2.227s.

USC - America: What the... Jordan Taylor has gone into the tyre wall just before the Carousel!
