Indianapolis 500 race day

Replays show that Harvey ran over some debris and spun into the inside wall. Unfortunate.
Harvey's car is being lifted onto a flatbed. But it's still not clear what went wrong for him.

Actually, an onboard camera gives a closer look of the Daly off. He got close to Kimball but didn't quite touch him before going off.

Replays show that Daly tried to go around the outside of Kimball, but goes too low and touches Kimball. This is what fired him into the wall.

"Is your drink bottle working," Alonso is asked. "Yes, he replies.

"I don't think we're going to be pitting here," Alonso is told by Michael Andretti.

Harvey is also off. He's stopped on the inside.

Daly accepts responsibility for that crash. "It's my fault," he says.

Daly was in a very congested part of the field and ended up firing into the wall. He reports that he's OK.

So we have four Andretti cars up front: Sato, Rossi, Hunter-Reay, Alonso.
Hunter-Reay tries to follow Sato past Rossi, and it gets very close between the two Americans.
Sato passes Rossi for the lead.
Rahal tries to go around Carpenter for seventh, but has to back out.
Stopwatch
Daly sets fastest lap at 224.998mph. He's 17th.
Hunter-Reay passes Alonso for fourth on the inside of Turn 3 on lap 63.
So it's Rossi, Alonso, Sato, Hunter-Reay, Hildebrand, Kanaan.
Sato passes Alonso for second on the inside of Turn 1.
Kanaan is on the move and up to sixth place.
Rossi passes Alonso for the lead on the main straight.
Hunter-Reay passes Carpenter for fourth on the inside of Turn 3.
Alonso moves low as Rossi gets a run on him.
Green flag
Alonso leads the field to the restart.

"We're going to be going green next time by," Alonso is told.
Kanaan's fueller had trouble getting the hose in, which cost him time in the stop.
It's not clear why, but Power was in the pits for a long time and has dropped to 23rd, one place behind Castroneves.
Yellow flag
Still under caution here. The order is: Alonso, Rossi, Sato, Carpenter, Hunter-Reay, Hildebrand, Kanaan, Andretti, Rahal, Pagenaud, Aleshin, Newgarden, Montoya, Karam, Kimball.
Castroneves drops out of the top 19 as his pit crew works to repair damage from the Dixon shunt he was near.
Alonso hangs onto the lead off pit road, followed by Rossi, Sato, Carpenter and Hunter-Reay.
Alonso heads to the pits followed by much of the field.

Dixon is speaking to ESPN: "I'm a little beaten up, it was a rough ride. I'm bummed for the team. We dialled it in and started to make some progress.

"I was hoping Jay would stay against the wall, I'd already picked where I was going so I had nowhere to go. I'm glad he's okay."

Alonso is told that the pit crew setup is being tweaked so that he has a little more room to swing into his pit.
So this is lap 56 of the Indy 500.

The cars are getting rolling again - the race is now live again under caution.
One driver who did make decent progress in the second stint was Castroneves. Despite the near-miss with Dixon, he holds eighth and is now lead Penske.
