Dixon has been checked, cleared and released by the medical centrey.
Some new fencing is being installed. The posts seem to be OK, but it's the mesh between the posts that was torn apart.
There are five Andretti cars in the top 9: Alonso (1st), Rossi (2nd), Sato (3rd), Hunter-Reay (5th), Andretti (9th).

The drivers sit patiently in their cars. The interesting question is what the weather is going to do, as there is rain not too far away. But it looks OK right now, so the race will get back under way when the barrier is fixed.
Barrier repairs are still ongoing. The hope is that it won't be too much longer but there is still work to do.
Replays show Howard ended up going wide after being lapped by Hunter-Reay, which led to his crash, which in turn led to Dixon being launched.
Dixon and Howard are the only two drivers not running. So we still have 31 cars in this race.

The race so far: Dixon lead early on, while Power charged up to second before fading to the edge of the top 10. Kanaan also had a stint leading up to the first stops. After a round of green-flag pitstops, Carpenter led but Rossi and Alonso soon made their way past, with Alonso then taking the lead from his team-mate. When the race was stopped, Sato had moved up to third ahead of Carpenter.

Red flag
Still under red flag conditions here at Indy after the Dixon/Howard crash.

The replays show that Dixon wasn't that far off landing on top of Castroneves, who was taking evasive action.
It's going to take a while to get the barriers repaired, such was the magnitude of the crash Dixon suffered. The impact ripped a hole clean through the fence.

Replays show a strange coming together between Dixon and Howard.
Howard is running higher up the road and off the racing line, he hits the wall and slides back across and catches the front of Dixon.
That sends Dixon airborne before he comes to a halt at Turn 1.

Howard has also got out of his car safely.
Yellow flag
That brings out the first full course yellow of the race.
Dixon is out of the car and walking away but the polesitter's Dallara-Honda suffered horrible damage in that.
Crash
BIG CRASH for polesitter Dixon - he gets airborne after contact with Howard.
It's stretching out slightly at the front, with reasonable gaps between Alonso, Ross, Sato and Carpenter. Then the pack battling for fifth is big - with Hunter-Reay now at the head of it.
We're already a quarter of the way into this race and Alonso has established a 1.4s lead over Rossi.
Rossi and Alonso look like they're working together, slipstreaming then swapping the lead back. It's Alonso's turn again now, and he's actually pulled out 1.1s very quickly as fellow Andretti driver Sato comes up behind Rossi.

There's a three way fight for the lead brewing between Rossi, Alonso and Sato as they enter lap 47.

Alonso is told that he and Rossi are now going to be able to pull away from the field. Carpenter, in third, is now 1.8s down.

The lead Penske is still Power, down in 10th, although Castroneves has made it up to 12th now.
