DTM - Lausitz: The second German F3 race was won by American Gustavo Menezes of Van Amersfoort Racing. Thomas Jager was second while points leader Marvin Kirchofer passed Lotus (Motopark) team-mate Artem Markelov for third on the finish line. Brit Emil Bernstorff was sixth, passing Matteo Cairoli late on.

Timo Glock

DTM - Lausitz: Quick bit of news regarding Timo Glock. He has been given a three-place penalty on tomorrow's grid for impeding Daniel Juncadella while he left the pits during qualifying earlier on.

He drops from 14th to 17th, elevating Timo Scheider a spot to 16th. Juncadella and Miguel Molina both gain two spots and move up to 13th and 14th on the grid because they also benefit from the five-place penalty to Augusto Farfus, who starts 15th.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: Grid penalties have been announced for Graham Rahal and Dario Franchitti for today's race, both due to engine changes. To be honest, neither of them qualified that well anyway, so it won't make much of a difference.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: The IndyCar start is still a couple of hours away, and in the meantime we're 20 laps into the 100 lap Indy Lights race. Right now, Zach Veach leads by 5.0s and is already lapping backmarkers, and the rest of the field is strung out. Hold onto your seats, etc.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: It's been a very tough season for Indy Lights, with only eight entries this weekend and the planned new technical package postponed.

Earlier this year AUTOSPORT's US editor Mark Glendenning got the inside story from series chief Tony George Jr.

Interview: Tony George Jr on Indy Lights' future
IndyCar - Milwaukee: Halfway into the Lights race now and Zach Veach still leads, although Sage Karam has closed the gap down. Veach lost a lot of time trying to clear lapped traffic, and it's possible that he's also killed his tyres. Carlos Munoz in third is also within sight of the lead group, but nobody else is in the same postcode.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: Lead change! Sage Karam goes around Zach Veach in Turn 2 to take the lead, and is already pulling away.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: Thirty laps to go. Karam's lead is growing, and Munoz has passed Veach for second and also opened a buffer. Only five of the eight cars are still on the lead lap.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: Seven laps remaining, and the top three now have the lead lap all to themselves.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: Potentially interesting development! Peter Dempsey has a big spin and is lucky to only lightly brush the wall, and we're under yellows with five laps left. That leaves Munoz with a chance to attack Karam at the restart ... but we've just gone green and nothing happened. Typical.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: Chequered flag for the Lights race; Karam, Munoz and Veach are the top three. We've had some good Lights races so far this year, but thank heavens that one's over.

IndyCar - Milwaukee: Here's the full story of how Sage Karam took his first Lights win:

Milwaukee Indy Lights race report
DTM - Lausitz: Who knew nineties band M People would still be popular in East Germany nearly 20 years on? The band playing 'Don't Look Any Further' in Dekra hospitality tonight certainly seemed to be enjoying it.
Bit of Superstars news for Saturday evening: Nicola Larini will team up with old friend Fabrizio Giovanardi in the Petri Porsche squad at Zolder.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: Drivers have just received the order to start engines here in Milwaukee.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: Present at Milwaukee this weekend is recent free agent JR Hildebrand. You'll have to wait for next week's AUTOSPORT to find out more about what he's up to though, because we're about to have the green flag ...
IndyCar - Milwaukee: And here we go. It's a clean start, Marco Andretti holds his lead ahead of Ryan Hunter-Reay, and Will Power and James Hinchcliffe are arguing over third.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: The first caution of the day comes courtesy of Simona de Silvestro, who has spun up into the wall in Turn 4. The pits are open and a lot of cars are taking advantage of it, but the leaders have stayed out.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: Shortest restart ever. The leaders got across the line, but further back Alex Tagliani spun going into Turn 4 and brought the yellows back out again. He was right in the middle of the track, and fortunate not to be hit by anyone. Graham Rahal tagged the rear of team-mate James Jakes while trying to avoid the spinning BHA car, and has had to pit for a new nose.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: Restart. This time, everyone kept it clean.
Regan Smith

Regan Smith

NASCAR - Michigan: Nationwide points leader Regan Smith has extended his advantage to 48 points by holding off Kyle Larson to win at Michigan.

Smith's cause was helped by main title rival Sam Hornish Jr's car picking up damage from debris (so those debris cautions aren't always just phantom excitement-builders...)

Nationwide results: 1 Smith; 2 Larson; 3 Menard; 4 Kyle Busch; 5 Bayne; 6 Sweet; 7 C Buescher; 8 Sadler; 9 Piquet; 10 Scott.
NASCAR - Michigan: Shortly before the Nationwide race began, the Sprint Cup drivers had their final practice session, and in a repeat of morning practice, it was Kurt Busch setting the pace.

Could this be the weekend when the Furniture Row man finally turns his recent pace into a big result?

Final practice results: 1 Kurt Busch; 2 Kahne; 3 Martin; 4 Johnson; 5 Edwards; 6 Kenseth; 7 Menard; 8 Kyle Busch; 9 Biffle; 10 Keselowski.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: Sebastien Bourdais has made an unscheduled stop, and then ran over his own airhose after the team thoughtfully left it right in front of his car. Consequently, he's just been issued a drive-through penalty. This would be a good time to tune into his in-car radio if you want to learn to swear in French.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: New race leader: Ryan Hunter-Reay goes past Marco Andretti.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: The leaders have started to pit under greens, and Sato - who stopped under yellows earlier - now leads. Marco Andretti had a slow stop, and has lost at least seven positions.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: Current top five are Sato, Castroneves, Wilson, Newgarden and Franchitti, all of whom elected to pit under yellows just over 50 laps ago. Sixth, and first of the 'on-sequence' cars: EJ Viso.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: The lead group stop, and EJ Viso cycles into the lead, 2.0s ahead of Ryan Hunter-Reay. Sato has managed to rejoin in third.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: Marco Andretti led every session yesterday, but his luck has run out: the Andretti car has come to a stop on the track.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: While crews work to rescue Andretti's car, many of the lead pack have taken advantage of the yellows to stop. Sato now leads again, and Hunter-Reay has leapfrogged Viso. We're at lap 101 of 250.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: Marco Andretti:

"Nothing worked in the car. The clutch didn't work, the gears didn't work, the dash went off, so it was obviously electrical."
IndyCar - Milwaukee: We're almost at the halfway point, and the current top five are Sato, Castroneves, Hunter-Reay, Viso and Hinchcliffe. Bear in mind that Sato and Castroneves have about 10 laps less fuel on board than the cars behind them.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: Marco Andretti is getting back into his car and preparing to rejoin the race in the hope of salvaging some points. He was second in the standings coming into this weekend.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: Nice save from Ed Carpenter, who wanders a bit high, loses the rear, and manages to catch it again.

Meanwhile, Sato and Castroneves have just pitted under greens, and Hunter-Reay moves back into the lead.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: Castroneves came out of those stops ahead of Sato, only to get momentarily bogged down behind Ana Beatriz and allow Sato to sneak past him. They've rejoined sixth and seventh.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: The top five have all pitted over the last few laps, and Sato leads again. Current order: Sato, Castroneves, Hunter-Reay, Viso, Hinchcliffe. There are 78 laps left to run.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: Heart-in-mouth moment for Sato, who wandered up high, lost the rear, and did an extraordinary job to catch the car before it looped into a full spin. Even more remarkably he managed to retain the lead, although Castroneves is very much back in play now.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: Hunter-Reay passes Castroneves for second, and immediately closes up onto Sato's rear wing ...
IndyCar - Milwaukee: ... and he passes him to take the lead. Sato is now under pressure from Castroneves, and responds by pitting for a less-thrashed set of Firestones.
IndyCar - Milwaukee: Beatriz has clipped the wall, and the yellows are out.
