DTM - Lausitz: End of Q1 and the drivers eliminated are: 17 Scheider; 18 Ekstrom; 19 Wittmann; 20 Hand; 21 Priaulx; 22 Tomczyk.
Spengler was fastest, rescuing some pride for BMW as it lost four cars, while Miguel Molina, ninth, stopped coming out of Turn 1 on his slow-down lap.

Valencia - GP3: With less than 5mins to go, the improvements are drying up. However, Dino Zamparelli has jumped up to sixth, as Kvyat matches his earlier time to the thousandth. I told you he was consistent!
Valencia - GP3: Nick Yelloly grabs P1 with a 1m22.597s. Very impressive, can he hold on? No! Kvyat and the Conor Daly improve to go 1-2. And what's that screech of tyres we can hear outside...
Red flag
Valencia - GP3: A Status GP car has spun at Turn 11 and stopped the session with 1m55s left on the clock. It's Adderly Fong. He became stranded right on the apex of the bend.
DTM - Lausitz: Q2 is now underway. That means 12 minutes from which the top 10 drivers will progress. Miguel Molina won't be among them though; he's walking back down the pitlane and will start 15th at best (16th if Farfus qualifies 10th or better).
Valencia - GP3: There's a scramble at the end of the pitlane, but they'll do well to get another lap in after this second stoppage. The order, after that late flurry of times, is: Daly, Kvyat, Yelloly, Regalia, Vainio, Korjus, Ellinas, Zamparelli.
Euro RX - Hell: British driver Liam Doran wins the first Supercar race of the weekend, but he forgets to take the joker lap and incurs a 30 second penalty.
Valencia - GP3: Just a couple of minutes separate Conor Daly from his first GP3 pole. Will his 1m22.329s be bettered on this restart?
DTM - Lausitz: Three minutes left of Q2 and it's an all-Mercedes top three. In the drop zone are Tambay, Albuquerque, Wehrlein, Glock, Juncadella, and, of course, the sidelined Molina.
Checkered flag
Valencia - GP3: Pole for Conor Daly, his first in GP3. A few people came close to improving their times in the frantic final lap, but the order remained: Daly, Kvyat, Yelloly, Regalia, Vainio, Korjus, Ellinas and Zamparelli.
DTM - Lausitz: Q2 ends in dramatic style with an all-Mercedes top three topped by Paffett.
At the other end, Wehrlein looked to have done enough to make Q3 with the ninth best time just as the chequered flag went out. He hadn't bargained on flyers from Tambay and Merhi (for P3) knocking him back down to 11th.

DTM - Lausitz: Eliminated in Q2 are: 11 Wehrlein; 12 Werner; 13 Albuquerque; 14 Glock: 15 Juncadella; 16 Molina.

Carlos Sainz Jr
GP3 - Valencia: News from the stewards' room is... there is no news! Carlos Sainz Jr was the only driver to have a time deleted for going over the track limits at Turn 1 during that session, but he recovered to set a better time anyway and will start ninth.
Euro RX - Hell: Norwegian drivers Andreas Bakkerud and Petter Solberg both win their heat one races in commanding style at Hell in Norway, and head the table after the first set of heats, ahead of another Norwegian, Alexander Hvaal.
Current standings: 1 Solberg, 2 Bakkerud, 3 Hvaal, 4 Timerzyanov, 5 Hedstrom, 6 Rustad.

DTM - Lausitz: Q3 has just started and that means 10 drivers are in with a shout of making the four-car, single-lap Q4 shoot-out. Paffett is first to blink and is already quicker than he managed in Q2.
MotoGP - Barcelona: Halfway through Moto2 qualifying and Pol Espargaro is 0.666s clear of Pons team-mate Tito Rabat on provisional pole, with Takaaki Nakagami next up.
Championship leader Scott Redding is fifth behind Alex de Angelis, who had a fall early on.
Tom Luthi was quickest in practice, showing his strongest form since his winter arm injury, but is currently only eighth in qualifying.

DTM - Lausitz: Halfway through Q3 and it's looking like three Mercedes and one Audi heading into Q4 - a turn up for the books by the form shown so far this season. Spengler is sixth, but don't be surprised to see him sneak into Q4, as he usually does.
DTM - Lausitz: Great Q3 for Mercedes. Paffett fastest as he and Mercedes team-mates Wickens and Vietoris make Q4 with Green's Audi.
Eliminated are: 5 Spengler; 6 Rockenfeller; 7 Tambay; 8 Mortara; 9 Merhi; 10 Farfus.
Farfus, of course, drops five places due to his grid penalty, so that means Wehrlein starts 10th and the Brazilian goes back to 15th.

DTM - Lausitz: Seventh represents Tambay's best grid spot since Valencia last year, so a good result from the Frenchman. Q4 is now underway with Green the first man out.
MotoGP - Barcelona: After a long period of no improvements, Moto2 qualifying has ramped up going into the closing minutes.
Championship leader Scott Redding jumps to second, but Pol Espargaro is still 0.6s clear.

Quote
GP3 - Valencia: Conor Daly reports that he "crossed his fingers as hard as possible" as he sat and watched his rivals shoot at his pole position time at the end of qualifying. He was unhappy to be blocked on the run on his second set of tyres, and elected to take a third set, and of his pole lap said: "I bolted those suckers on and went for it!"
Checkered flag

Pol Espargaro
MotoGP - Barcelona: Pol Espargaro claims Moto2 pole by 0.6s over championship leader Scott Redding.
Espargaro's Pons team-mate Tito Rabat comes close to grabbing second back from Redding with his final lap but falls short.
Moto2 qualifying results: 1 Espargaro; 2 Redding; 3 Rabat; 4 Nakagami; 5 de Angelis; 6 Zarco; 7 Torres; 8 Krummenacher; 9 Cortese; 10 Luthi.
That's Moto3 champion Cortese's first top-10 start in Moto2.
DTM - Lausitz: Pole for Christian Vietoris, for the first time in his DTM career. Paffett failed by 0.2s to overhaul his German Mercedes team-mate. Green and Wickens start third and fourth.
GP3 - Valencia: AUTOSPORT just bumped into Marussia F1 team boss John Booth who's popped in to see his Manor GP3 team in action. His championship-leading charge Tio Ellinas blamed traffic and outbraking himself at Turn 8 for his seventh on the grid, reckoning he could have been in the top three or four at least.
Quote
DTM - Lausitz: Great exchange in the post-qualifying press conference between interviewer Peter Reichert, Jamie Green and Gary Paffett.
Q: Jamie Green, you've had lots of strong races for Mercedes. How does it feel to be in the top three for Audi?
Gary Paffett: "We do train the best drivers at Mercedes, don't we?"
Jamie Green: "Thanks Gary."

DTM - Lausitz: Look what's on track now. This is called the Kia Lotos Cup, for little Picantos, all of which are driven by Polish guys. They look good fun, albeit very slow when you stick some of the DTM's wide-angle cameras on them.

But our jungle drums are also beating about some technical infringements - we're just waiting to have it clarified who and what exactly. We're hearing it will affect the top 10 for tomorrow's first race...

NASCAR - Michigan: Austin Dillon has taken a record fourth consecutive pole in Nationwide Series qualifying, and set a track record pace for the series too.
It's a good weekend for Dillon so far - he qualified seventh for his latest Sprint Cup outing with Richard Childress Racing yesterday.
Nationwide qualifying results: 1 A Dillon; 2 Menard; 3 Scott; 4 Bayne; 5 Bowman; 6 Sweet; 7 Allgaier; 8 C Buescher; 9 Vickers; 10 Logano.

DTM-Lausitz: Turns out waiting our turn to talk to front-row starter Gary Paffett paid off for AUTOSPORT as instead we were treated to a superb Porsche Carrera Cup Germany race while we waited.
Attempto team-mates Kevin Estre and Nicki Thiim battled all race long with Thiim passing the Frenchman with a lap and a bit to go to take the win.

DTM - Lausitz: More significantly, one of the cars dumped a lot of oil down at Turn 1, which is still being cleared up. The result is a sizeable delay to the start time of the second German F3 race, which was due to be underway by now.
DTM - Lausitz: Whatever broke Martin Tomczyk's splitter in qualifying also put a hole in his radiator. This, according to the German, was the real reason parked his car before the end of Q1.
DTM - Lausitz: Whenever we do get underway with the second German F3 race, it will be Sebastian Balthasar (remember we mentioned him earlier?) on pole on the reversed grid. Race one winner Emil Bernstorff starts eighth, behind team-mates Marvin Kirchofer and Artem Markelov.
Breaking news
GP3 - Valencia: As predicted earlier, there are a couple of big changes for the race one starting grid after post-qualifying scrutineering checks: third-placed qualifier Nick Yelloly and 13th-placed Lewis Williamson have been banished to the back of the grid for technical infringements.
Yelloly's Carlin car didn't meet with specified dimensions, while Williamson's Bamboo machine didn't have the high roll back caliper seals.
