NASCAR - Sonoma: Kurt takes Kyle for the lead in a Busch swap at the hairpin, and Allmendinger stuffs his car into the gap and takes second too.

Johnson is now with them.
NASCAR - Sonoma: Kurt Busch pounces on Allmendinger to take second as both attack Kyle Busch for the lead.
NASCAR - Sonoma: Kyle Busch, Allmendinger and Kurt Busch are inches apart, nose to tail, now.

Johnson is 3s back in fourth and has Newman, Gordon and Earnhardt with him.

Early lead contender Larson is down in eighth now, just ahead of team-mate McMurray and champion Harvick.
NASCAR - Sonoma: The pair on strategy option #3 are not making very rapid progress through the traffic - Bowyer and Stewart are still down in 27th and 28th.

Allmendinger is right with Kyle Busch for the lead now, and Kyle's brother will be there very soon too.
NASCAR - Sonoma: Kurt Busch outbrakes Newman for third.

Allmendinger and Kurt Busch were a class apart in the first stint, how quickly can they catch leader Kyle Busch - and how quick is the younger Busch after his qualifying spin left him down the grid?

Johnson scorched through the order early on too, now he's with the frontrunners and is surely a contender for the win.

The cars may look pretty cumbersome around here, but there's a lot to love about NASCAR road racing. More of it wouldn't hurt, preferable in place of a few 1.5-mile ovals.
NASCAR - Sonoma: Newman and Kurt Busch both pass McMurray to go third and fourth, with Johnson now in this group too.

Allmendinger is trying to close down a 1.5s lead to catch Kyle Busch.
NASCAR - Sonoma: Kyle Busch is making a bit of a sprint while McMurray is bottling up Allmendinger.

Kurt Busch is still back in fifth behind Newman, with Johnson past Allgaier for sixth.

Allmendinger is past McMurray, who now has Kurt Busch and Newman attacking him from both sides.
NASCAR - Sonoma: We're back to green on lap 33, with Kyle Busch holding off McMurray and the fast-starting Allmendinger about to attack them.
NASCAR - Sonoma: Five more minutes of barrier repair expected now.
NASCAR - Sonoma: That yellow has become a red flag while the barrier is rebuilt.

Race order:

1 Kyle Busch*
2 McMurray*
3 Newman*
4 Allmendinger
5 Kurt Busch
6 Allgaier*
7 Johnson
8 Keselowski*
9 Larson
10 Gordon
11 Kenseth
12 Earnhardt
13 Harvick
14 Kahne
15 Menard*

* Pitted out of sequence early on

Bowyer and Stewart are running 31st and 32nd.
USC - Watkins Glen: Richard Westbrook in the Spirit of Daytona car is our first repeat winner of the Prototype series! Wolf Henzler wins the GTLM class for Team Falken Tire, it's the German's first win this year.

The top three in Prototype with five minutes to go are:

1 Richard Westbrook - Spirit of Daytona
2 Joey Hand - Ganassi Racing
3 Joao Barbosa - Action Express

The GTLM top three are:

1 - Wolf Henzler - Team Falken Tire
2 Earl Bamber - Porsche
3 Bill Auberlen - BMW RLL

Van Der Zande wins in the PC class and Marc Goossens wins the GTD class.

What a brilliant race. Frantic but, brilliant!
NASCAR - Sonoma: Truex moved the concrete barrier with that crash. Another lengthy clear-up is required.

Bowyer and Stewart, the only men yet to pit, are doing so now.
NASCAR - Sonoma: That was the ended of a barging match between Truex and Ragan. Truex looked like he started it by edging Ragan off the road through an esses section, but then Ragan made the point a bit bluntly by stuffing Truex into a spin from behind on the way out.
USC - Watkins Glen: So the top three in Prototype with five minutes to go are:

1 Richard Westbrook - Spirit of Daytona
2 Joey Hand - Ganassi Racing
3 Joao Barbosa - Action Express

The GTLM top three are:

1 - Wolf Henzler - Team Falken Tire
2 Earl Bamber - Porsche
3 Bill Auberlen - BMW RLL

Under five minutes to go, and Ganassi Racing may have just thrown this one away. With this yellow, did they have enough fuel to finish? Hindsight is a beautiful thing.
NASCAR - Sonoma: Allmendinger and Kurt Busch are through to fifth and sixth, Stewart has tumbled to eighth now. Ninth in fact, there goes Johnson past him.
NASCAR - Sonoma: Bowyer, like Stewart on very old tyres, has McMurray and Kyle Busch all over him - make that Busch and McMurray as they've just swapped places.

Stewart is down to fifth and about to lose that spot to the flying Allmendinger.

Now Kyle Busch slices through on Bowyer and takes the race lead.

Remember Busch is on a totally different strategy to our early pacesetters - his brother and Allmendinger.
USC - Watkins Glen: In Prototype, Joey Hand pits for a good ol' 'splash and dash' giving the lead to Richard Westbrook with 9 minutes to go!

We have another full course yellow as two GTD leaders get together.
NASCAR - Sonoma: Back to green as lap 27 of 110 begins.

Bowyer keeps the lead, McMurray is going to take second from Stewart and Kyle Busch is passing the Stewart-Haas owner/driver too.

Lots of dust flying in the midfield, looks like Allmendinger is making progress back up the order already.
NASCAR - Sonoma: This yellow might last a while as the tyre wall needs to be put back in shape where Gilliland rearranged it at Turn 10.

Race order is now:

1 Bowyer
2 Stewart
3 McMurray
4 Kyle Busch
5 Newman
6 Allgaier
7 Menard
8 Keselowski
9 Allmendinger
10 Kurt Busch
11 Gordon
12 Johnson
13 Kenseth
14 Larson
15 Harvick

Bowyer and Stewart (1-2) haven't pitted at all yet. Positions 3-8 all pitted early and are likely to need to three-stop. Allmendinger leads those who pitted under yellow.
USC - Watkins Glen: We're green again for 16 final minutes. Joey Hand gets away well in Prototype. Richard Westbrook and Spirit of Daytona won here last year so keep an eye on the front two.
NASCAR - Sonoma: Gilliland is out of the car and walking away. That's good to see, hard impact there.

Now the leaders are pitting on lap 23 of 110.

JTG Daugherty jumps Stewart-Haas - Allmendinger leaves the pits ahead of Kurt Busch.

Bowyer and Stewart have stayed out on an alternative strategy too.
NASCAR - Sonoma: Most will surely pit under this caution.

Order right now:

1 Kurt Busch
2 Allmendinger
3 Gordon
4 Johnson
5 Bowyer
6 Larson
7 Kenseth
8 Stewart
9 Earnhardt
10 Harvick
11 Mears
12 Ragan
13 Kahne
14 Truex
15 Edwards

Hamlin and Keselowski's early stops should vault them to the front now.
NASCAR - Sonoma: We've got our first yellow - David Gilliland has gone off at Turn 10 and buried the Front Row Ford into the tyre wall.

That was a nasty impact, there's only a two-layer tyre barrier there before the wall.

Gilliland reports that a tyre went down. He's indicated that he's OK.
NASCAR - Sonoma: Hamlin goes out of sequence and makes an early pitstop. He's looked quick but been in heavy lower top 20 traffic.

Johnson passes Larson for fourth and Bowyer pounces too, pushing the Ganassi man to sixth.

Still 1.5s splitting Busch and Allmendinger for first and second.
USC - Watkins Glen: Everything is up for grabs here. In Prototype, the Ganassi Ford EcoBoost has heavy front bumper damage and Richard Westbrook has been looking extremely punchy all day.

In GTLM, Henzler still leads from BMW's Bill Auberlen. Van Der Zande is in front in PC and Goossens still leads GTD.

25 minutes to go.
NASCAR - Sonoma: Johnson and Harvick are storming forward here. The Hendrick man is now up to fifth and closing on Larson, the Stewart-Haas Chevy is through on Truex for 12th.

Kurt Busch's lead over Allmendinger has stabilised at 1.5s, and they're pulling clear of Gordon.
NASCAR - Sonoma: Though he's up to third, Gordon doesn't have anything for Kurt Busch and Allmendinger yet. He's fallen over 6s behind.

Harvick is moving up, he takes Kyle Busch (who's had a wild, dusty few laps) for 14th.
NASCAR - Sonoma: Order on lap 10:

1 Kurt Busch
2 Allmendinger +2.1s
3 Gordon +5.6s
4 Larson +7.7s
5 Kenseth +8.5s
6 Bowyer +9.0s
7 Stewart +10.3s
8 Mears +11.3s
9 Johnson +13.0s
10 Ragan +13.2s

Keselowski is going backwards, he's down to 19th and under big pressure from Hamlin.
NASCAR - Sonoma: Trouble for last year's polesitter Jamie McMurray in the other Ganassi car, he's pitting with a vibration and going out of sequence.

Just outside the top 10, great side-by-side racing between Joe Gibbs team-mates Edwards and Kyle Busch, with Truex and Earnhardt doing the same right behind them.
NASCAR - Sonoma: Yes we did just typo 'London' for 'Sonoma'. Formula E on the brain. NASCAR would not work around Battersea Park.
NASCAR - Sonoma: Gordon takes third from Larson. That battle dropped them 5s off Busch's lead, but given his form in recent laps Gordon should soon be with the top two.
NASCAR - Sonoma: With Gordon all over Larson for third, Busch is inching away from Allmendinger in the lead. His current 1.3s gap is the biggest it's been all race.
NASCAR - Sonoma: Gordon has caught Larson for third and is having a very good look at passing him.
USC - Watkins Glen: We've got another full course yellow for the debris at the final corner. The front nose of the #10 Corvette has been sitting there for a while now. Hard for the officials not to throw one and the Wayne Taylor Racing car is now out. Hard luck because, they were looking strong for the win until the yellow flag.
NASCAR - Sonoma: Johnson storms past Truex too. Up to 12th, now Edwards is in his sights.
NASCAR - Sonoma: Onto lap six of 110, Larson is falling away from the top two a little. Busch leads Allmendinger by nine tenths of a second.
NASCAR - Sonoma: Gordon isn't the only Hendrick car on the move, Johnson passes Newman and Keselowski in quick succession and is now chasing Edwards and Truex for 11th and 12th.
