2013 Belgian Grand Prix Saturday practice

Both Ferrari drivers now back in the pits after an installation lap, though they may want to avoid the usual half-hour sit out today.

Hamilton, Rosberg and di Resta are all on track, with the former now well into his first timed lap of the day.

Maldonado completes another tour of the track and he moves up to third position with 1m50.418s.

Button is also immediately on timed laps as McLaren clearly takes into account the rain on the radar advancing towards the circuit.

Webber completed one installation lap. Vettel has run through the pits and back out for a second look at the circuit.

Sutil places fourth with his first timed lap - 1m51.333s.

Both Lotus cars have returned to the pits, with the team's double DRS device once again shelved for the rest of the weekend.

This looks like an early start for Williams and Maldonado is on a realistic pace.

Vettel rolls down the pitlane and he joins the racetrack.

Bottas has also crossed the start-finish line and is into a second lap.

No rush for Alonso at Ferrari, with teams clearly playing down the threat of rain for the moment.

The early runners are back in after one lap but Maldonado has crossed the line and he is into a second tour of the 7.004km circuit.

Webber is next out onto the track. He practices a start at the end of the pitlane.

Button and Perez are now on circuit for an installation tour in the McLarens.

Bottas heads out in the other Williams. Vergne and Sutil join him a short while later.

No rush at Mercedes, as Rosberg slowly gets ready to clamber into his ride. Maldonado and Ricciardo are on the racetrack.

Grosjean quickly joins the track in his Lotus, followed by Gutierrez, Chilton and Raikkonen.

Bianchi is the first man out in his Marussia.

Mark Webber has climbed into the Red Bull. He is being belted into the cockpit ahead of what should be a busy session.

Tyres

Another overcast day at Spa, with rain never far away, meaning a difficult job of tyre management for the teams this morning. As ever, wet rubber is in limited supply and will need to be conserved for the remainder of the weekend.

If things do stay dry, outfits will look to get some more slick-shod experience, with one concern being the punctures experienced by Vettel and Alonso on Friday afternoon.

Although Pirelli is adamant that the problems were caused by debris puncturing their right rears, drives expressed concern after the practice session:

Drivers demand tyre safety guarantees

A closer inspection of the circuit by Pirelli overnight has found a piece of metal at Turn 13, which the tyre manufacturer suspects caused the punctures.

It has been dry at Spa so far this morning - so far. There is a fairly expansive band of rain on the way in, coming from the south-west.

Rain is likely to arrive sometime during final practice. It will be light at first, but gradually intensifying as we go through the day and qualifying is expected to be very wet indeed.

A light south-easterly breeze is in evidence and air temperature will reach 21 degrees Celsius later today.

Points leader Sebastian Vettel took up his customary position at the front of the field in second practice yesterday, with a lap in dry conditions of 1m49.331s, narrowly edging out his Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber.

The teams have just 60 minutes left to perfect the set-up of their machinery and complete preparations before heading into this afternoon's all-important qualifying battle.
