21 min: Hamilton has since started another tour and is again looking to better his previous sectors.
20 min: Hamilton was looking better on his latest lap, improving in both the first and second sector, but he elected to back off towards the end of the lap.
20 min: Van der Garde on his near miss with his team-mate: "I don't know what Charles was doing."
20 min: Daniel Ricciardo heads out to begin his second run of the afternoon.
19 min: Grosjean improves his second sector and moves up one place - ahead of Raikkonen to 12th... until Raikkonen promptly reverses the order.
18 min: Hamilton does indeed complete that lap but he is only 22nd with 1m56.096s.
18 min: Vettel is back into the pits after a seven lap run in the Red Bull.
17 min: After a slow start to the session, Hamilton is now working through what should be his first timed lap.
16 min: But his team-mate Vettel lowers the bar and finds another three-tenths of a second with a lap of 1m50.555s.
16 min: Each Lotus driver heads back out with Grosjean running wide at the exit of the turn that preceeds Pouhon.
15 min: Webber has been wheeled into the garage and his Red Bull is displaying a lot of flow-vis paint over the front wing.
15 min: Both Lotus drivers have been out and have since returned to the pits. Raikkonen is 11th with Grosjean one place further back.
15 min: Chilton is reporting that his Marussia is determined to pull him right, the Brit even taking his hands off the wheel at speed to check whether it's a car problem.
14 min: Sutil pits after a run of six laps in the Force India. Meantime, Vettel is now fastest in the first sector after cooling his tyres for a lap.
13 min: Bianchi pulls out his best lap of the day, his Marussia now 18th and 0.4s ahead of team-mate Chilton.
13 min: Vergne is seventh in the Toro Rosso. He is back into the pits after completing a first run of six laps.
12 min: The Red Bull pair are sandwiching the Ferrari duo, with Sutil now best of the rest in fifth, then Rosberg in sixth spot.
12 min: Webber follows his team-mate up the list and the Australian goes fourth with a time of 1m51.186s.
11 min: Vettel moves to the front of the field with a time of 1m50.867s.
11 min: Gutierrez, seventh at present, pits and is pushed into the Sauber garage.
11 min: Ricciardo is back into the pits after just five laps in the Toro Rosso.
10 min: Alonso has moved ahead of Massa and into second place. There are 0.3s between the Ferrari duo.
10 min: So we have Webber up top with 10 minutes of the session gone, ahead of the two Ferraris, then Maldonado in fourth and Vergne in fifth.
9 min: Van der Garde, for the record, is currently 17th and four seconds clear of Pic.
8 min: Both Caterhams manage to go off the track at the Bus Stop chicane, right in front of Vettel. They appeared to try to outbrake each other.
8 min: Webber soon changes the order and moves to the front with a lap of 1m51.317s.
7 min: Vettel completes that lap but is only 10th as he builds his pace.
7 min: Massa goes quickest in 1m51.699, 0.4s quicker than Maldonado's Williams.
7 min: Vergne completes a second lap and moves back into third place with a time of 1m52.244s.
6 min: Webber is now on the circuit, while Vettel is well into his first timed lap.
6 min: In the pits currently are both McLaren drivers and Hamilton's Mercedes. Everyone else is out.
6 min: Bottas' first attempt places him fourth with a lap of 1m52.600s.
5 min: Maldonado goes fastest with a time of 1m52.104s in the Williams.
5 min: Di Resta takes over at the front of the early runners with 1m52.287s.
5 min: Vergne pops into third spot, behind Ricciardo and Gutierrez with a time of 1m53.320s.
4 min: Ricciardo crosses the line and immediately takes the best time away from Gutierrez with 1m52.558s.
4 min: Vettel is now on the circuit and Webber is the only driver left in the pits.
4 min: Hulkenberg does indeed set the first flying lap. 1m52.954s is three seconds faster than Alonso's morning pace.
3 min: Hamilton follows his team-mate onto the circuit, leaving only four drivers in the pitlane.
3 min: Hulkenberg was actually the first one onto the track and he's now on what could be a flyer.
