Three Drivers Penalised

The stewards said the three will lose their two fastest laps in the session, after they failed to slow down in the third sector of the lap, when Olivier Pla spun at the chicane in the closing stages of the session.

Art Grand Prix driver Rosberg, who was second in the provisional results, will move down nine places, having set a third personal best of 1:44.989, putting him in 11th in the new results. Rosberg's two fastest laps, stricken following the stewards' decision, were 1:43.939 and 1:44.302.

Arden International's Heikki Kovalainen, originally third, has lost fourteen grid positions, with a third personal best of 1:45.737 placing him in 17th. His two fastest laps, which were stricken following the stewards' decision, were 1:43.965 and 1:44.318.

Rosberg's teammate Alex Premat also lost 14 positions, having originally been in eighth, moving to 22nd on the grid with a third best lap of 1:46.589. Premat's previous two fastest lap were 1:44.598 and 1:44.904.

The penalties mean Gianmaria Bruni, who topped the times in practice this morning, will move to the front row, taking second place alongside pole sitter Giorgio Pantano.
