GP2 Series points leader Luiz Razia believes he can salvage his Spa-Francorchamps weekend despite a disastrous qualifying session on Friday

Spa GP2: Points leader Luiz Razia rues disastrous qualifying

Arden driver Razia will start today's feature race from 18th on the grid, 12 places behind title rival Davide Valsecchi, who qualified sixth for DAMS.

Razia blamed a set-up change after free practice, in which he was fourth fastest and ahead of Valsecchi, and changing track conditions for his slump in pace.

"This hasn't been the best of days, clearly," said Razia. "[In the] morning the car felt really good in free practice, with a nice balance, and I was confident that would carry over into qualifying.

"The track was a little bit drier in the afternoon, so we lowered the rideheight slightly, but it wasn't a big change and suddenly the car had massive understeer. We made a few alterations before the second run, but that made it oversteer.

"We simply didn't find a balance. But we'll look at the data and find a solution."

Razia is seven points ahead of Valsecchi going into this weekend's round, the first of the final three events in just four weekends.

"On a positive note, overtaking is definitely possible at Spa so a points finish is feasible," he added. "That's my target."
