Premat Delighted with Home Pole
Alex Premat was thrilled to take his first pole of the season, feeling that it was particularly important for him as it was in front of him home crowd at Circuit Nevers Magny Cours
Premat has been slightly overshadowed recently by the results of his teammate Nico Rosberg, but felt that the recent GP2 test at Circuit Paul Ricard could be the turning point of his season.
"Yeah, definitely," he said after the session. "I am very happy with this first pole because since the beginning of the year I've had a lot of problems in the qualifying, and at Paul Ricard two weeks ago we worked a lot on qualifying and now we are really competitive in qualifying, and also for the race.
"I think this is a good pole position because when I put on my first set of tyres I did the fastest time, and then when I put on my second set I was four tenths faster even with a mistake. So I am very happy, and very confident for tomorrow afternoon."
Premat felt that the French crowd gave him a big lift in qualifying, and he hoped that he could pay them back: "Yeah, I hope to win tomorrow in front of my public and at my home Grand Prix for them."
