Pantano: Title not won yet

Giorgio Pantano has refused to accept he's the 2008 GP2 Series champion just yet despite extending his lead to 13 points with only 18 on offer this weekend at Monza

Racing Engineering's Pantano scored two points for pole position, which eliminated Romain Grosjean and Lucas di Grassi from the title equation. The only man who can beat him now is iSport's Bruno Senna, but he starts 12th after a dismal qualifying session.

"It's not a done job yet," said Pantano. "Two points for pole is always good, and I'm a bit more relaxed to see Bruno in P12, but anything can happen and it will be tough if it rains tomorrow."

Pantano has discounted this morning's free practice session, in which he was only 23rd fastest in wet conditions.

"We had a few problems, but I think we can be on the top in the wet as well," he added. "I'm not going to take any risks tomorrow. My first job is to win the title, but if I have a chance to win the race, then I will take it."

Second placed qualifier Lucas di Grassi has promised he will "make no stupid moves" on Pantano tomorrow, but added: "I came back to GP2 to win races. It was a shame I was so close to Giorgio, just two hundredths of a second. Now my mathematical chances of the title are over, so I will stay focused on trying to win races."

Di Grassi, along with teammate Vitaly Petrov, look set to give the Campos team their first-ever GP2 teams' title after long-time leaders iSport could only manage 10th and 12th with Karun Chandhok and Senna.
