Marko puts Red Bull Jr up for sale
Dr Helmut Marko, head of the Red Bull Jr Team, is to step down from his position in the F3000 team at the end of the season and has put the outfit up for sale
Marko's team won the F3000 championship with Jorg Muller in 1996 and finished as runner-up with Juan Pablo Montoya a year later, but a series of disappointing results this year has led to the Austrian former F1 driver's decision to call time after the season finale at Monza next month.
"It was my aim this season to finish at least third either in the drivers' or in the teams' championship. Since we clearly failed to do so, I am resigning from my position."
This year drivers Patrick Friesacher and Ricardo Mauricio have scored just 20 points between them. With 13 points Friesacher lies ninth in the standings, having taken just one podium finish this year - second place at Monaco.
Marko said he hopes to sell the team as a going concern. He added that he hopes to announce his next role in motorsport in the near future.
