GP2 testing: Alexander Albon fastest on day two in Abu Dhabi

The Anglo-Thai continued his programme with ART Grand Prix, and was one of four drivers covered by less than a tenth of a second at the end of the second installment of the three-day test.

Raffaele Marciello, who was quickest on Wednesday with Trident, stayed with the same team and ran Albon closest, finishing up just 0.024s adrift.

GP3 champion Charles Leclerc was fastest in the early going of the quicker afternoon session, and finished up third in the order with Prema Racing, which appeared to focus on race runs in the morning with the Monegasque and fellow Ferrari junior Antonio Fuoco.

Jordan King jumped out of the Russian Time entry he ran on Wednesday and into an MP Motorsport machine to go fourth fastest.

Category veteran Johnny Cecotto Jr continued his end-of-year comeback form to take fifth place with Rapax, while Formula V8 3.5 runner-up Louis Deletraz completed the top six with Racing Engineering.

The fastest time in the morning session was set by Oliver Rowland with DAMS, followed by Marciello, Cecotto, King and Albon.

Rowland was seventh quickest in the afternoon, during which everyone set their best time, followed by fellow DAMS driver Nicholas Latifi.

Fuoco was ninth, while GP3 race winner Nyck de Vries joined the test - having tested a DTM Audi at Jerez earlier in the week - to take 10th position with Rapax.

Further down the order, Callum Ilott - who will continue in F3 next season - was 14th on his debut GP2 test day with ART, while DTM Mercedes driver Daniel Juncadella was 20th with Campos Racing on his first GP2 test since 2012.
