Di Grassi not giving up on title
Lucas di Grassi says is not giving up on his dream of winning the GP2 Series title, despite the dramatic ending to the Monza feature race that robbed him of taking the points lead, and instead left him with an eight-point deficit
Di Grassi was cruising to a surefire second place when his ART Grand Prix car became stuck in neutral with less than two laps remaining.
Di Grassi coasted to a halt on the grass, only for the gearbox to start functioning again, by which time he had lost 12 places.
"I was leading the championship with one and three-quarters of a lap to go," he said. "Now, I am eight points behind, but there are still 40 points to go. It's obviously quite tough, but the same thing could happen to him (Timo Glock), so I will keep pushing and keep my focus."
Di Grassi will start 14th in Sunday's sprint race, but believes he can score points from there.
"Maybe I can score some points tomorrow, who knows?" he said. "I had the second best pace on Saturday, so I'll push and see what happens. I will keep on fighting until the end."
