Autumn Cup put back a fortnight
The start of Formula 3000's England-based Autumn Cup has been put back a fortnight to September 24 when it is due to kick off at Donington Park rather than around Brands Hatch's Grand Prix circuit this Sunday as originally planned
This decision gives the teams more time to finalise their driver line-ups, but it also reduces the number of rounds from four to three, with the subsequent rounds at Brands Hatch on October 1 and at Snetterton on October 8. Series co-ordinator Peter Briggs told Autosport: "There weren't enough drivers because our scheduled first round was only two weeks after the final FIA series race. It's tough to find people with money at this time of the year."
Among the teams who have pledged to enter cars for the Autumn Cup series are Fortec, Astromega and the Red Bull Junior team, but the McLaren junior team has withdrawn as it had planned to contest only the original first and third rounds with Tomas Scheckter and now considers it now worth taking part in just one race.
