ART secure championship title

ART Grand Prix have secured the GP2 teams' championship title today, taking the honours for the second year running

Lewis Hamilton and Alex Premat finished the feature race in Turkey in second and third positions respectively, giving ART a total of 157 championship points.

Nearest rivals in the standings are Piquet Sports, with 102 points; and iSport, with 98 points.

However, with only three races left - tomorrow's sprint race and next month's double finale at Monza - ART are now mathematically certain to retain their championship crown.

The maximum points available for a team is 45, while ART's lead now stands on 55.

ART was founded in 2004 by Nicolas Todt - son of Ferrari team chief Jean Todt - and Frederic Vasseur, founder of the successful ASM F3 team.

The French collaboration was established specifically for the purpose of entering the GP2 championship, and the outfit has won the series' inaugural title last year with an impressive total of 187 points.

The French team saw their driver Nico Rosberg clinch the drivers' title at last season's finale in Bahrain, and his replacement this year, Lewis Hamilton, has dominated the middle part of the season.

But now the Briton holds a slender lead of just six points ahead of Nelson Piquet Jr, with a maximum of 27 points still available.
