Van Lagen replaces Jowsey
Dutchman Jaap Van Lagen has been signed by Comtec Racing to replace Edwin Jowsey in the British squad's second World Series by Renault seat
Jowsey was dropped by the team yesterday following financial problems, and Van Lagen, who drove for current rival KTR last season, has been snapped up to fill the void.
Van Lagen finished ninth in last year's series and the deal has been inked just in time for him to compete at the track when he scored his best result of second last year - Monte Carlo.
"I have always been a big fan of Jaap's," said team boss Jonathan Lewis. "I've known him since we competed against him in our Formula Ford days when we ran the Works Van Diemen Team.
"He has always been a hard and aggressive charger who always goes forwards in races and not backwards. We tested him at the end of last season at Paul Ricard and were due to sign him for this season, but unfortunately he lost one of his main sponsors early in the year and we couldn't conclude the deal then."
Van Lagen joins Swede Alx Danielsson in the team.
