Poles for Heikki and Narain

The front row will be filled by Narain Karthikeyan and Heikki Kovalainen in both Magny-Cours Dallara Nissan races tomorrow (Sunday). The two drivers have dominated throughout practice, so it came as no surprise that each of them took a pole position.

Karthikeyan (RC Motorsport) got pole for the first race in spite of a gearbox difficulty causing him to spin at the end of the session. "The strong wind made it a bit difficult, but the car is good," he said. "If it doesn't rain tomorrow then I will win."

Kovalainen (Pons Racing) was soundly beaten in the first session, but bounced back for a pole in the second, with Karthikeyan relegated to second.

Third place for race one went to Enrique Bernoldi, and for a while it looked like he had third for the second as well. But the Brazilian's time for the second session was removed because he did not slow down for yellow flags.

"I hope I can score some points tomorrow," said Bernoldi, who won the first two races of the year at Jarama for GD Racing. "I'd like to fight for the win too, or at least get a good result."

Championship leader Tiago Monteiro (Carlin Motorsport) suffered with brake problems in the opening session, but landed up fourth in the second after they were changed. His new team-mate Olivier Pla placed a decent sixth and seventh, although he said he expected better.
