Pentus fastest in practice at Aragon

Estonian Sten Pentus continued his formidable pre-season testing form to lead Friday morning practice at the opening Formula Renault 3.5 round of 2010 at Motorland Aragon

The Fortec driver moved to the top of the timesheet just before the quarter hour mark and gradually lowered his benchmark to 1m43.970s.

British Formula 3 champion Daniel Ricciardo briefly moved into top spot with 10 minutes remaining, only for Pentus to respond and edge out the Australian by 0.056s.

Reigning Italian F3 champion Daniel Zampieri took third for Pons Racing, ahead of Pentus's Fortec team-mate Jon Lancaster, who finished on the podium at Motorland last October.

Julian Leal finished fifth with 2009 Formula Renault 3.5 teams' champions Draco, eclipsing his fancied rookie team-mate Nathanael Berthon by five places.

Junior Lotus Racing's Daniil Move, another to mount the podium last year, rounded out the top six.

Formula Renault Eurocup champion Albert Costa made his comeback to the cockpit following a prolonged hand injury sustained in a Barcelona testing crash.
