Maldonado on top at Valencia
Pastor Maldonado led the way on the final day of World Series by Renault testing at Valencia in Spain on Wednesday, boosting his chances of remaining in the category next year
The Venezuelan joined Draco for the second day of the two-day test in Spain and put in his best lap in the dry afternoon session, with the morning running have been hit by rain.
"Yesterday, we had a small problem at Epsilon and my best time had to be cancelled, but today I demonstrated that we can be very fast," he said.
"It has been a year to forget and I want to have another go in the Series, although nothing is confirmed as yet and I have still to decide if I will be in Paul Ricard for the second test."
Michael Ammermuller in the RC Motorsport car was second fastest overall, ahead of Tomas Kostka in the Epsilon Euskadi and Brazilian Carlos Iaconelli in the Intervetten.
Female racer Susie Stoddart got her first taste of the WSR with Comtec - and admitted that she will need to work on her fitness level for racing next year.
"When I go back to England I'll concentrate on my fitness but I'm extremely happy to be in this Series," she said: "This is definitively a good place to be in order to progress."
