Hartley makes FR3.5 return with P1
Brendon Hartley will make a one-off return to Formula Renault 3.5 with P1 Motorsport at Silverstone this weekend, substituting for the injured Jan Charouz
Hartley competed in the series with Tech 1 Racing until the Hungaroring round in July, before parting company with the Red Bull Junior programme.
"I am excited to be doing it and thankful to P1 for the opportunity," said Hartley. "Last year at Silverstone I was fastest in my qualifying group, before taking third [in the Superpole].
"It shouldn't be too different switching teams, I am sure things will be a little different to what I am used to, but P1 Motorsport are a top team and we will work hard."
The Kiwi made his GP2 debut with Coloni at Monza and will finish the season at the Abu Dhabi finale.
"Monza was frustrating in that I didn't have a chance to show what I could do," said Hartley.
"I was a second off on my first qualifying run on new tyres, and then didn't have an opportunity to get a lap in on my second run. I didn't finish either of the races, as I had problem with the ignition and then the exhaust, but I was really impressed by GP2, it's a fantastic car.
"Speaking to other drivers, they've told me it will be quite different on high downforce in Abu Dhabi. But I feel certain that Monza has increased my understanding of the car and tyres, so I am more confident going into Abu Dhabi."
