Garcia disqualified from Spa
The talking point in the WSR paddock is the reaction to the news yesterday that Borja Garcia has excluded from his first place finish at Spa last weekend
Post race technical inspections had cast doubts over the legality of his RC Motosport's front wing and the item was sent to Dallara in Italy to have its authenticity verified.
It has emerged the offending modifications made to the wing were nothing more than the type of screw used in securing part of the end-plate.
RC were using a flat-topped screw which they claim Dallara supplied them last year, whereas the rules stipulate the use of a round-headed screw.
The decision to exclude RC has been viewed as extremely harsh in some quarters, and the matter will go to the appeal courts.
KTR's Robbie Kerr is also set to lose his Spa race two ninth place finish under the same ruling.
The victory at Spa was Garcia's first of the season, and had moved him to the top of the championship. The points lead has now been seized Pastor Maldonado, who also inherits Garcia's Spa trophy.
