London set to be axed from Formula E calendar in 2016/17

Autosport understands the protracted situation surrounding the fate of the double-header in Battersea Park means this July's event will be the venue's last.

A judicial review into Wandsworth Council's closure of the park and the planning consent around the July 2-3 event is scheduled for Tuesday or Wednesday this week.

It is understood the series wishes to be granted permission to go ahead with this season's race, because preparations for the event are well under way, on the condition it does not return to Battersea in the future.

When asked if the issues made it problematic for the series to remain in Battersea beyond the current campaign, Agag told Autosport: "It's too early to tell.

"We're looking at every option. The priority is to focus on season two.

"After that we see. We have a contract with the council to continue for another year [but] we are open and flexible."

Agag said he was "not 100 per cent [the judicial review will go in the championship's favour] but I'm quite optimistic because I have good reasons.

"We have to respect the timings and the processes. This one is out of our control so we will see what happens.

"We are working on some solutions in our control, we always do as much as we can."

LONDON OUT, SIX NEW CITIES IN

While London will be axed, Autosport understands a proposed 12-round, 14-race calendar that could be submitted to the FIA at the next meeting of the World Motor Sport Council features up to six new venues.

The New York event coveted by Agag would be a double-header, as would a long-mooted round in Montreal.

Hong Kong has already been confirmed and will be the season opener on October 9, and if the planned calendar is pulled off Marrakech, Brussels and Singapore would also join the schedule.

A return to Monaco, after a year out thanks to its rotation with the principality's biennial historic event, is also on the cards.

Existing host cities Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Long Beach, Paris and Berlin are included on the draft calendar.

But Beijing, Putrajaya and Punta del Este, which hosted races in each of FE's first two seasons, are not expected to remain.

Moscow fell off the season-two calendar earlier this month due to problems on the organisers' side.
