Formula E is working on a last-minute replacement for the Moscow ePrix, which is set to be dropped from the calendar

Formula E considers replacements for Moscow round

Series CEO Alejandro Agag confirmed to Autosport last week he was seriously considering cancelling the Russian event due to issues outside of FE's control.

The series and the FIA have not officially confirmed the fate of the Moscow event but Autosport understands they are in discussions over a possible alternative.

A replacement is being targeted for the same June 4 slot as the planned race in Moscow.

An official communication is expected from the series this week.

The loss of the race in Moscow, where the track is adjacent to the Kremlin and incorporates the city's famous Red Square, would be a blow to FE, which pulled off its maiden race on the streets of Paris last week.

Agag told Autosport the championship has written permission from Russian president Vladimir Putin and the security services of the Kremlin, but the Moscow city authority is yet to confirm it will close the roads needed for the circuit.

"It hasn't given the red light but I can't do a race with an orange light," he said.

"I don't think it's correct what they're doing so I'm really putting pressure to get the final answer and if I don't I'll call it off."

FRESH CHALLENGE TO BATTERSEA FINALE

In addition to the expected Moscow cancellation, another obstacle has been placed before the season finale at Battersea Park.

The London double-header was thought to have cleared its final hurdle late last year when it survived a last-minute veto attempt over the local council's vote not to enact its break clause with FE over the race.

But protesters have lodged a claim for a judicial review into the event.

London's High Court is examining a request for a hearing into the legality of Wandsworth Council's closure of the park and the planning consent around the event.

Opponents of the event have currently raised two-thirds of the £30,000 targeted to cover the legal costs surrounding the claim.
