Vanthoor, Buttarelli join Carlin
Carlin Motorsport has added Formula 3 racers Laurens Vanthoor and Samuele Buttarelli to its line-up for this weekend's Masters of F3 at Zandvoort
The team is without regular Euro Series racer Brendon Hartley who is on Formula Renault 3.5 duty with Tech 1 Racing in Hungary, and also has a space in its British F3 roster after Oliver Oakes split from the squad two races ago.
Vanthoor is currently leading the German F3 championship and finished sixth in last season's Macau Grand Prix, while 17-year-old Italian Buttarelli is racing full-time in Spanish F3 this year.
The pair will join British F3 championship leader Daniel Ricciardo, Max Chilton, Henry Arundel and Jake Rosenzweig at Carlin this weekend.
"It's an honour to race for a great team like Carlin and a great opportunity to get a good result," said Vanthoor. "It's difficult to know what to expect at Zandvoort because it's a new team, a new car and a new track for me, but for sure I will do my very best to get the best result possible.
"I think if we work very hard, we will do well, even with my lack of experience in these surroundings."
Team boss Trevor Carlin added: "I believe we take a very strong team to Zandvoort. It's great to be able to welcome two new drivers into the team for the Masters. We're delighted they have chosen to race with Carlin at this highly competitive event and we will do our utmost to provide them with the best possible cars."
