Taylor re-signs for Manor

Double British Formula 3 championship-winning team Manor Motorsport has re-signed Mark Taylor to lead the squad in next year's series

Briton Taylor becomes one of the first of this year's F3 front-runners to confirm he will return to the championship in 2002, setting himself as one of the pre-season favourites.

Having finished ninth overall in his rookie season, including two podium finishes and a pole position at the Spa Elf Masters international race, the 23-year-old believes he will be ready to try and re-capture the crown that Manor won in 1999 and 2000.

"I have the capability of being as quick as anyone out there, and I'll go into the season with confidence," said Taylor.

Taylor is the first signing for 2002 by Manor, which also ran Derek Hayes to third place overall this year.

Team boss John Booth is optimistic about Taylor's chances in his second season.

"I don't like to make big statements, but Mark has a good shot at the title next year," said Booth. "We've signed the only driver left in F3 who can overtake!"

Taylor's two team mates are as yet undecided, but the team is in close discussions with American Richard Antinucci, which it ran to runner-up spot in this year's British Formula Renault championship. Danish Formula Ford star Ronnie Bremer also impressed the team in a test at Pembrey last week.
