Taylor looking for wins at Donington
Manor Motorsport's Mark Taylor is looking to take the fight back to British Formula 3 Championship leaders James Courtney and Robbie Kerr as the series heads to Donington Park this weekend after setting a blistering pace during testing at Silverstone on Monday
The British ace topped the times during the official test at the Northamptonshire track, more than half a second clear of title favourite Courtney.
Taylor managed to salvage a fourth and fifth place from the first two races of the season at Brands Hatch two weeks ago, despite a battery problem with his Dallara-Mugen Honda, but he is looking to put one over Courtney and Kerr at Donington.
Taylor said: "The way it's going at the moment, there are lots of quick drivers in the series and you don't know who's going to be on top. But I feel that as long as I do everything right, I'll be up there on the front row."
Opening race winner Robbie Kerr was third fastest at Silverstone, 0.074sec behind Courtney, while the Fortec duo of Heikki Kovalainen and Fabio Carbone were back on song, after a disappointing first race weekend, in fourth and sixth places respectively. Winner of race two at Brands Bruce Jouanny was fifth.
The usual suspects are expected to be at the front this weekend and while Taylor is quietly confident, he also believes the unpredictable British weather could play its part.
"We'll have to wait and see what the weather does," he said. "I'm not so sure about how the car reacts in the wet, but I'm really happy with the set-up in the dry. If everything's not quite right, then you're going to struggle to get onto the front two rows."
