Svendsen-Cook joins Carlin for 2010

Formula BMW racer Rupert Svendsen-Cook will graduate to British Formula 3 next season with leading squad Carlin

The 19-year-old Briton, who finished sixth in Formula BMW Europe this season, joins Formula Renault graduates James Calado and Jean-Eric Vergne in the team's lineup.

"I'm delighted to be with Carlin for 2010," he said. "They have the best record in British F3, but most importantly I already feel really comfortable in the team.

"F3 is a fairly big step up from Formula BMW but the car is amazing, with so much more grip than I'm used to.

"Testing has gone really well so far and I can't wait for the season and the racing to get underway."

Svendsen-Cook will be joining the team that has run the past two British F3 champions, Jaime Alguersuari and Daniel Ricciardo.

Team boss Trevor Carlin added: "Rupert is a great young British driver. Despite some bad luck in Formula BMW this year, he put in a strong performance to finish sixth in a very competitive field.

"We've been very impressed with his performance testing the F3 car and also the way he has gelled with the team. Our British F3 team is really starting to take shape now and it's exciting to think what they might be able to achieve together in 2010."
