Snetterton: di Grassi's pole

Di Grassi's success was his first British F3 pole for the Hitech Racing driver. This is his first season in Britain, having competed in South America until the start of this year. He nailed his quick lap after the chequered flag was out, just a moment after Nelson Angelo Piquet had taken fastest time away from Adam Carroll.

The Brazilian followed up his pole with third place in the second session, while Rossiter (Fortec Motorsport) kept up his good qualifying record with fourth in the first session followed by pole in the second - in spite of a frightening moment at the Bombhole corner.

Piquet seems to have returned to form with second and fourth, but Danilo Dirani had another bad day including a technical problem that kept him in the pits for much of the first session. He'll start ninth and eighth, but at least has pole for this evening's race, which replaces the rained-off Silverstone round from earlier in the season.

That race, with the grid already set from Silverstone, gets underway at 1805 UK time this evening. A report will follow after the race.
