Silverstone: Kovalainen's first F3 win
Heikki Kovalainen claimed his first Formula 3 victory in the special British Grand Prix support race at Silverstone on Sunday morning, as Fortec and Renault scored a triumphant one-two result
Kovalainen beat team-mate and pole winner Fabio Carbone into Copse at the start and he was never headed thereafter. Carbone and Carlin's James Courtney kept him under pressure, but the second placed car could never risk a move on the leader in case the Jaguar Formula 1 test driver in third took a chance to pounce.
Mark Taylor took fourth after moving ahead of the battling Robbie Kerr and Bruce Jouanny at Copse after the start. Kerr and Jouanny had been too busy fighting with each other to stop Taylor jumping up the order.
Kerr dropped back to seventh, but passed Michael Keohane and was right on Jouanny's tail when he was forced to retire when his fuel pump failed.
Adam Carroll claimed seventh overall and the National class victory after passing poleman Robert Dahlgren at Becketts.
