Sachs'ring qual 2: Paffett loses pole

England's Gary Paffett has lost his pole position for Sunday's fourth round of the German Formula 3 Championship at Sachsenring

Paffett had lapped his Team Rosberg-run Dallara-Opel in 1m16.585s, 0.124s ahead of Japanese racer Kousuke Matsuura (Prema Powerteam), but a fuel sample taken from his car was ruled to be illegal. Paffett's team-mate, Kimmo Liimatainen was also excluded for an airbox infringement.

Matsuura will now start the race from pole. Timo Glock will start second in his BSR Dallara-Opel, the young German just pipping Bernhard Auinger (BSR) and Joao Paulo de Oliveira (Team Kolles) - all three separated by just 0.02secs.

Championship leader Frank Diefenbacher (BSR) suffered a disastrous session and will start 10th, one spot behind another frontrunner, the Mercedes-powered Markus Winkelhock (Mucke Motorsport).

Qualifying for Saturday's third round of the championship is at 11.00 local time, ahead of the race at 16.30.
