Race 2 Premat steals a win

Alexandre Premat took full advantage of a small mistake by Nico Rosberg to steal the Formula 3 Euroseries win in race two of this weekend's Magny-Cours round

Pole man Rosberg made a perfect getaway to lead the opening lap and looked in control of the race from there on. However, towards the end of the race, the Team Rosberg driver was experiencing a drop-off in the performance of his tyres and as he continued to push following relentless pressure from Premat, the mistake occurred.

He locked a brake, ran wide and missed the apex, gifting Premat an opportunity he could not refuse with just two laps to go.

Bruno Spengler also made a flying start to leap into third. He fended off Nicolas Lapierre's charge in the early stages, and thereafter had a relatively easy run to his first podium of the year.

Championship leader Jamie Green had his toughest race of the year. He was forced onto the grass on the opening lap and dropped to the tail of the field. From there he produced another stunning drive to get up to ninth, but missed out on a championship point.

Lewis Hamilton lost any hope of scoring a point when he got tangled up with Alex Margaritis at the hairpin on the opening lap. But he too put on a charge, setting the race's fastest lap. Fellow Brit Tom Kimber-Smith didn't start the race after breaking his thumb in a shunt during race one.
