Race 2: Heikki does the double

Heikki Kovalainen repeated his move from the first race earlier in the day at Thruxton to score a double win in the penultimate round of the British Formula 3 championship

Once again the Finn pulled off a move on Promatecme's Bruce Jouanny at the Complex on the opening lap to take the lead. Jouanny exerted tremendous pressure throughout, but Kovalainen drove brilliantly to fend off his advances.

Championship leader Robbie Kerr finished a close third despite being beaten off the line by title rival James Courtney. The Australian was held up by the battling Kovalainen and Jouanny at the Complex on the first lap, allowing Kerr to take back the position.

The other Fortec car of Fabio Carbone was fifth ahead of Manor Motorsport's Ronnie Bremer, who survived a clash with team-mate Richard Antinucci. The American tried a pass at the Complex, but rode over Bremer's wheel and was forced to retire.

The other Manor driver Mark Taylor has quit the team and did not race this weekend. The Englishman, who has lined up a drive in the American Infiniti Pro Series for next year, has been unhappy with his results in F3 this season.

Kerr now has one hand on the British F3 crown with just two races at Donington Park still to go on September 22. He holds a 33-point advantage over Courtney with just 42 up for grabs.
