Qualifying 1: Courtney secures pole
James Courtney secured pole position for the first race of Sunday's British Formula 3 Championship clash at Castle Combe
The Australian lapped his Carlin Motorsport Dallara-Mugen in 59.294 seconds around the fast Wiltshire track. He was a clear two tenths ahead of nearest rival Robbie Kerr - a good margin on this track.
The times tumbled towards the end of the session and it was imperative to get a lap in just before the chequered flag. But the late dash did little to change the order with Bruce Jouanny making sure of third place on the grid, ahead of Fortec duo Heikki Kovalainen and Fabio Carbone.
Stephen Colbert headed Adam Carroll in the Scholarship class.
