Mustonen takes Thruxton race 2 win

Atte Mustonen made it a double win for Double R Racing with a lights-to-flag victory in the second British F3 race at Thruxton this afternoon

The Finn controlled the race superbly after a good start, and saw off an early safety car period to ensure he stayed out from at the restart. From there he just pulled away for a simple win.

Teammate Stephen Jelley, who shared the front row, was hit from behind at the first corner, where Greg Mansell (Fortec Motorsport) also lost time. This allowed Maro Engel (Carlin Motorsport) into second place.

Engel's teammate Niall Breen quickly passed him. Meanwhile T-Sport driver Rodolfo Gonzalez was on the move, passing Marko Asmer (Hitech Racing) for fourth and then Engel for third.

The Venezuelan pulled away to secure third behind Mustonen and Breen, which was his first podium - as well as the first for T-Sport and Mugen-Honda in 2007.

Sergio Perez (T-Sport) was the National Class winner after a controversial high-speed collision with Franky Cheng (Performance Racing), which led to Cheng's retirement.

This virtually ends any hopes Cheng had of winning the championship.
