Michela Cerruti and Romeo Ferraris team join European Formula 3

Michela Cerruti will race in the Formula 3 European Championship this year with series newcomer Romeo Ferraris

The 26-year-old Italian was a race-winner in Superstars for the Ferraris team in 2011 before switching to F3 last year in both the German series and the European Open.

She believes she can fight at the front, despite the team's inexperience in the category.

"I'd like to think that I will be competing in a highly-competitive championship full of really fast drivers," she said.

"There's nothing I like better than a challenge that seems impossible.

"My whole career so far has been a series of leaps in the dark, and every year has brought a new and more difficult challenge. I fully expect this to be the most demanding."

The team is expected to run a second car for the season. No driver has been announced for the seat.
