Magnussen leads second F3 test day

Kevin Magnussen set the pace throughout the second day of the official British Formula 3 test at Rockingham on Wednesday

The Dane topped all four sessions of running around the Corby circuit, but only pipped his Carlin team-mate Carlos Huertas to the fastest time of the day by 0.056 seconds.

Hitech Racing's Pietro Fantin took the third fastest time, lapping within a tenth of Magnussen's benchmark.

Carlin's Jazeman Jaafar was fourth quickest, with Fortec's Will Buller and championship leader Felipe Nasr (Carlin) rounding out the top six.

Seventh-placed Rupert Svendsen-Cook was just 0.001s slower than his Brazilian team-mate, while Status GP3 racer Alexander Sims set the eighth quickest time of the day for Sino Vision Racing.

The 2008 McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award winner took over the Dallara-Mercedes normally raced by team-owner/driver Adderly Fong for the first three of the four sessions. He joined the test to give the squad feedback on its car and lapped inside the top six throughout his time in the seat.

Carlin's Jack Harvey was ninth fastest on day two of the test, after missing day one to sit an exam, while Double R's Scott Pye completed a top 10 covered by less than four tenths of a second.
