Le Mans qualifying 2: Pla takes pole

France's Olivier Pla took pole position for Monday's round of the Formula 3 Euroseries at Le Mans

He lapped his ASM Dallara-Mercedes in 1m32.893s, 0.128s faster than Fabio Carbone's Signature-run Dallara-Renault. "Qualifying was just perfect," said Pla. "It is exactly what I need. The car is perfect and I confirmed it this morning. I did good laps without too much traffic and I will do my best to win this afternoon."

Sunday's pole sitter Christian Klien (Mucke Dallara-Mercedes) was third fastest this time, ahead of the impressive Bruno Spengler (ASM Dallara-Mercedes), who missed much of the season due to a back injury.

Championship leader Ryan Briscoe could only manage the fifth quickest time in his Prema-run Dallara-Opel, but he managed to outpace yesterday's race winner Nico Rosberg (Team Rosberg Dallara-Opel).
