Jarvis takes second Mugello pole

Despite a complete change of weather at Mugello, Oliver Jarvis again dominated his British Formula 3 rivals in the second qualifying session at Mugello today

The Carlin Motorsport driver made it two pole positions from two sessions, this time going fastest in a session that was dismally wet from start to finish.

With all the drivers staying out from beginning to end, and the track conditions varying, Jarvis showed all the necessary patience to take another pole.

Bruno Senna brought some cheer to the Double R camp by going second-quickest and so giving himself some hope of a good result after a difficult weekend up until now.

Yelmer Buurman (Fortec Motorsport) will start third after excelling in the wet as usual. The Dutchman will start ahead of championship leader Mike Conway.

Conway's lead looks even less secure now than it did after the first qualifying session. With chief rival Jarvis starting on pole for both races, the thought of a miraculous championship fightback might just have crossed Jarvis' mind.

Cristiano Morgado (Fluid Motorsport) was the fastest of the National Class cars. The South African's impressive wet-weather driving took him to an unusually high tenth place on the overall grid.
