Green's Euro Series pole

Britain's Jamie Green (ASM Dallara-Mercedes) will start Saturday's 11th round of the Formula 3 Euro Series race at Magny-Cours from pole position

Series dominator Green lapped the French GP venue in 1m34.411s, well clear of team-mates Alexandre Premat (1m34.672s) and Eric Salignon (1m34.842s). Two downpours turned the 30-minute session into a lottery. Green found the right timing and lapped his fastest time after the first shower.

"I tried right from the start to drive a good time," said Green. "I stepped on it even more after the first shower, which was enough for the pole."

Premat said: "I drove out too late at the beginning of training, which meant that I couldn't drive a fast lap in dry conditions. But it was enough for second place following the downpour."

Nico Rosberg (Team Rosberg Dallara-Opel) will start Sunday's race from pole position. His time of 1m34.116s was enough to beat Premat (1m34.271s) and Nicolas Lapierre (Team Signature-Plus Dallara-Opel). Rosberg, however, could only manage eighth for Saturday's race, while Green will start seventh on Sunday.
