F3 ace Davies to leave Promatecme?
Formula 3 star Matthew Davies may be about to leave the crack Promatecme Renault Formula 3 team, according to a story in this week's AUTOSPORT magazine
The team denies the possibility of a split, but rumours persist that the driver and team no longer see eye to eye. Davies was one of the stars of the series in his rookie year last season, and finished fifth in the points standings.
The Englishman started the year among the favourites, but currently languishes in eighth place, two places and five points behind team-mate Andy Priaulx.
"I don't know of anything unusual," said a spokesman for the team when asked about Davies' future with the team. "We're in a difficult situation at the moment, sure. But we're looking at all the options."
The team's Renault engines have disappointed so far this season, and the Promatecme cars tend to be slowest through speed traps. However, the Promatecme cars are renowned for unparalleled chassis engineering.
It has been suggested that Davies will move to another team, though it is not clear what team this is, or even if it runs in the British F3 championship. The Englishman has contacts in France from his days in French FFord and the La Filiere racing school.
