Engel wins second Spa race
Maro Engel picked up a second win for the rookies by taking the second British F3 race at Spa-Francorchamps this morning
The German driver, who lost out on victory on the last lap yesterday, started today's dry but foggy race from pole position. Although he won the race into Eau Rouge, Bruno Senna (Double R) drove past him on the run up to Les Combes.
For a few laps Engel looked to have no answer, but then he and his tyres found rhythm and he started lining up Senna.
He finally made a move on the Brazilian around the outside of Les Combes, forcing Senna to outbrake himself in the process.
Senna briefly lost control and ended up losing several places and collecting Engel's innocent team-mate Christian Bakkerud, who had been running in a safe third place.
Bakkerud's retirement promoted fellow Carlin man Oliver Jarvis to second, but also brought out the safety car.
This helped Senna's fightback, as well as that of Mike Conway, who had qualified down in ninth. The bunching of the field, a variety of mistakes ahead of them, a fuel pump failure for Jarvis and some incisive passing helped the Double R duo to take second and third.
