Engel claims Oulton Park pole
Maro Engel claimed the first pole position of the new British Formula Three season at Oulton Park this morning
The Carlin Motorsport driver will share the front row with Stephen Jelley (Double R Racing) in the first race tomorrow. Jelley starts in the same position he did last year, on what is his favourite circuit.
Leading the rookies was Fortec Motorsport's Swedish star Sebastian Hohenthal, who is the reigning Formula Renault UK champion.
His teammate and fellow rookie Greg Mansell was also impressive in qualifying, though his best time was disallowed because he had missed one of the chicanes and he was classified 11th.
Marko Asmer, who led the way in winter testing, will start the race fourth for Hitech Racing. Niall Breen was best of the Carlin rookies in fifth, one spot ahead of teammate Sam Bird.
Mexican driver Sergio Perez, driving for reigning champion team T-Sport, was the best of the National Class field.
