Di Resta closes in on title with pole
Paul di Resta only needs a couple of points to wrap up the 2006 Formula Three Euro Series, and he achieved half his target at the Hockenheim finale already by scoring pole position for the penultimate round
It was a close call for the ASM team leader, who grabbed the top spot by 0.001 seconds from Manor Motorsport's Esteban Guerrieri. ASM's Kamui Kobayashi will start third, over a tenth of a second off the leaders, with teammate Giedo van der Garde fourth.
Sebastien Buemi, who topped free practice in his Mucke Motorsport car, was only fifth fastest when it mattered, ahead of the top Signature car of Guillaume Moreau.
Di Resta's only title rival, ASM teammate Sebastian Vettel, was only seventh fastest, and suffered a brief clash with eighth quickest Romain Grosjean (Signature) at the Sachs Kurve.
