Croft test: Courtney to the fore
Pre-season British Formula 3 Championship favourite James Courtney finally showed his true colours by topping the testing times at Croft in Yorkshire on Thursday
Courtney, who has taken over the seat of last year's champion Takuma Sato at Carlin Motorsport, was over a tenth of a second faster than the opposition, led by American driver Richard Antinucci of Manor Motorsport. It wasn't all good news for Carlin, however, as their other driver Michael Keohane suffered concussion in an accident at Tower Bend in the afternoon session.
Robbie Kerr was third for Alan Docking Racing, whilst Bruce Jouanny made it four different teams in the top four in his Promatecme-run Dallara. Dane Ronnie Bremer (Manor) was fifth ahead of Brazilian Fabio Carbone in his Renault-engined Fortec Motorsport Dallara, the Brazilian a Croft rookie. Manor Motorsport's Mark Taylor was seventh ahead of Heikki Kovalainen in the second of the Fortec Motorsport Dallaras.
An impressive ninth was the new Ralt, run by Team Avanti, in the hands of Matthew Gilmore. The team is still deliberating whether to run Ralts or Dallaras in the championship this season.
