Comtec acquire P1 Motorsport
Comtec Racing are to branch out into British Formula Three this season with A1 GP Team Lebanon driver Basil Shaaban, after acquiring P1 Motorsport
The boss of the reigning British F3 National class champions Roly Vincini went to work for Comtec as head of engineering of their World Series by Renault squad, which has led to Comtec's acquisition of P1.
The team will conduct testing with Shaaban throughout the year, before entering the final few races of the season.
It continues a busy week for British squad Comtec, who have also changed their World Series line-up, replacing Edwin Jowsey with Jaap Van Lagen.
"These are new and challenging times within the world of Comtec Racing," said team boss Jonathan Lewis.
"Having Roly Vincini as our head of engineering, an opportunity arose for us to purchase his Formula Three team. Having within our team the people with the experience and know-how, this presents an excellent opportunity to make full use of their skills."
Former F1 driver Martin Donnelly will head up the British team for Comtec.
"Having had previous experience and successes as both a driver and team owner in Formula Three, I sincerely believe that I can guide both Basil and Comtec Racing to success at an early stage in this new venture," added Donnelly.
