Burti gets promoted to F1

British Formula 3 Championship leader Luciano Burti gets his first Formula 1 test of the season at Monza on Tuesday

The Brazilian Stewart Racing driver is standing in for compatriot Rubens Barrichello with the sister Stewart Grand Prix team, for which he tested last year. Barrichello will be back home in Brazil.

Burti said: 'I'm doing the first day of the test and then Johnny Herbert will be taking over for Wednesday and Thursday. It will be a straightforward test, but we'll run some new bits.'

Among his test work for SGP last year, Burti took part in a major test at Barcelona at the end of the season, but he sees the Monza outing as even more important.

'It's mid-season, so it will be more important than Barcelona, which was just at the end of the year,' he added.

But he insists that, until the F3 race is over and done with on Saturday evening, the trip to Italy is not even being considered. 'I haven't thought about it. I've just been watching some tapes to see where the track goes, but F3 is more on my mind at the moment.'
